Small or large onion sets?

Hello all.

A while back there was a thread on shallots and several people recommended growing small shallots to give bigger shallots when harvested.

Is the same true of onion sets?

Onion sets are grown abroard on poor soil especially for the British market. After planting they grow into mature onions. Plant March/April to mature late August/Sept.
