I have had a Janome for many years but just recently got the Jamone 1100 Special Edition and as most of you know although I am a sewer I am not Very good with computers and the machine seems to know more than my laptop!!

I am so hoping someone out there has one and can be my buddy for a while

Whoa!!! Go carefully! Looks like you could interfere with NASA's space program with that!!!

Looks like a fun toy, but I can't help. I've only just mastered buttonholes on my basic Singer :icon_rendeer:

I don't know how recently you made the purchase Jeannine, but often the store you buy from will throw in an introduction to using the machine. Also Janome UK occasionally run courses. Maybe there's something similar in your part of Canada?

Jeannine

Hi Caroline, how you doing gal!! I owe you an email still trying to ctach up.

Grawc, nice to hear from you too. I got it in October. They do offer classes for free but it is a 3 hour round trip to go plus lesson time and I haven't been able to make it yet and probably won't be able to so was hoping someone else had one.

I tried mastering a Brother Galaxy 200 on my own but ended up having to have lessons as it is so much more complicated than my old machine.  It'll be worth the 3 hour round trip - mine was 2 hours, twice - so book a whole or half day with the instructor and take a note book to jot things down as you go.

Hi Jeannine, My sewing machine expert daughter suggests you look on Janome's web site tuition pages and then search You Tube who are very likely to have something useful. She's sorry her shop doesn't sell those machines but she also reckons that [at a price] an instructor could come out to you. Anyway Happy Christmas and Happy sewing and sowing in the New Year. Regards, Green Lily

Hi Jeannine :toothy10:

'enjoying' our typical wet Welsh winter, lol

Have you tried using your new machine yet?

What sort of things are you  planning on making with it?

Can't help mine's a Pfaff but I understand ! I have to study the manual intently each time just to get started, fortunately still have my old machine for emergencies.

Showing my ignorance.....can yu get a sewing machine that is a serger as well? Just wondering? :smileinbox:

green lily

I'm informed no. They are 2 completely different machines.

carolinej

Oh right . Thanks :toothy10:

that will save me a lot of time looking for a combo machine if ever I wanted on,lol :smileinbox:

Jeannine

Actually  it does do a serged edge, it just doesn't trim the fabric. I was miffed at that as they call it serging.

I have used it a couple of times but so far have really been too busy with moving, hospital Christmas etc..am hoping all has settled down now.

Thank you for the advice from your daughter Green Lily..I may just do that of I find something I truly get stuck with.

I suppose an uncut serged edge is better than nothing if you need it  :cat:

Here's hoping 2013 brings you lots of spare time to get to know your new machine :toothy10:

Happy New Year :icon_flower: :icon_flower:

Oh my goodness!  I do love gadgets, but that sewing machine is unbelievable.  And I see that it costs as much as we'd pay for a car, so perhaps we'll stick to our old basic Singer!
