Does anyone have a potato ricer and if so what is your opinion of it.  Is it a useful tool in the kitchen or is it confined to the back of the cupboard?  I am a sucker for natty gadgets and trying to curb myself due to back of cupboard syndrome.

Mine is in a different place - the metals skip at the local civic amenity centre. (Via the back of the cupboard.)

Yes I have one and I like it, it's the press type not the one where you turn the handle, don't like those... qahtan

We have one and it's a favourite.I cook jackets in the microwave ,cut in half, cut side down and the potato squiggles through leaving the skins in the ricer. :icon_cheers: Perfect for "dry" mash for fishcakes etc.We love garlic mash and again garlic unpeeled boiled with the potatoes in the ricer. The skins are left behind but the garlic goes through.I find it doesn't work with a root mash 'tho.

Think the answer to that one is how many times a month you might prepare a meal using it? :toothy10:

You can also squeeze boiled parsnip for parsnip and potato mash.  And you can squeeze egg pasta dough into a saucepan of gently boiling water for homemade pasta.  Here is a recipe and a picture:

I add an onion chopped small with my spuds and it makes for a great different mash tasting dish..
