For the past couple of years I've bought my garlic bulbs from The Garlic Farm. I've always received nice large bulbs with firm cloves and have not been disappointed with the results.

This year however, and for no particular reason, I fancy trying a new supplier - where do you get yours from?

Thanks

I am trying the lottie shop this year - at less than a quid a bulb (and no post and packing charges!) its got to be worth a go  ;D
Friends always welcome on the plot, weeds by appointment only.

i have just ordered from the garlic farm, i ordered 12 elephant garlic gloves arrived yesterday and thought they must have made a mistake as the box felt rather heavy, the gloves are massive biggest i've seen , very impressed  :)

The gloves must be for the heavyweight division... couldn't resist it..  ;D

Just been reading my September GYO magazine there's an offer from Kings Seeds of 2 Solent Wight, 2 Early Purple Wight, 2 Provence Wight and 2 Chesnock Wight - 3 soft neck and a hard - for £10.95 (+£1.50 p&p). Hmmm think I'll give that a try.

Is there a code for that, or do you have to buy the magazine?

^^ It seems to be on Kings Seeds website - search Garlic Collection on www.kingsseeds.com

I think all the Wights are from the garlic farm (IOW). Where's Ace when you need him ? :P

This coming year I'm giving a try to commercially grown garlic after the small heads the usual suppliers' stock gave me in 2012.

I've bought Eden Rose Garlic from Western International Market(near Heathrow) @ £14 for 120 heads....
What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

Yes, I think so.  They seem to be varieties that have that particular name and just add 'Wight' to it - for example 'chesnook Red' becomes 'chesnook wight' etc.  Surprised they can do this type of renaming, because I thought a particular variety should only have the one name?  Yes it would be interesting to hear Ace's take on this.  Maybe they do some extra breeding which justifies a new name - but I doubt it.

IOW also grows most of the commercial garlic in shops, so I've read.  Really good climate for garlic growing apparently.

That's the one Ellen K looks like a good deal to me. I've checked The Garlic Farm and they're selling 4 Solent Wight for a tenner but charging £5 p&p!
