HSL Blackpod Runners

I'm hoping to plant my Blackpod runner beans today, they seem to have a slight spot of red just as the stem joins the leaf which faintly spreads up the veins of the leaf. I can't remember if this is normal for runners?

Anyone else growing this variety? The red/purple pods looked so pretty in the picture  :)

I have planted mine out but the slugs seem to love them.  Thanks for reminding me I need to go over and remove the bottle cloches before they get cooked.

These have come on fairly well, and have a mass of little beans set. I'm going to pick my first ones of these to try tomorrow. Bring on the butter  ;D
Leaves have red veins on the underside and a little red is evident when they first set. Pods are pretty when larger with a red tinge to them, (these pictures were taken towards the beginning of the month)

I did wonder if they may be ok for the seed circle? Can't guarantee seed purity, but I'm growing them as far apart from my Ceredigion runners as I can, with several tall hedges in between. Thought I might do a taste test first, Ceredigion are a good bean  :)

Mine have been cropping nice juicy beans with very good flavour, slight sting up one side but easy to remove with a potato peeler.  But they are not black mine are red.  Very attractive but Red.
