It's a bit early to be harvesting FIr Apples.... generally late Sept unless they've naturally died down (or you had to cut down to dodge the blight.... but well done..... they will taste as good in March as they do now (and be just as frustrating to try adn clean :D )  try quartering them lengthways for chips (with skins on....

Hi 1966 sadly we have had a back attack of blight and the F A. had all wilted so we thought it was best to get them out so it was a surprise when we got such a good crop.

I grew PFA for the first time last year, and I loved them, so a lot more this year.

I have had blight, but he PFA seemed to be less affected, so while I have cut the tops of most the spuds, I have not had to for the PFA, so looking forward to a bumper crop.

Today I just couldn't resist seeing what all the fuss is about... :-[
Just as soon as I started to have a feel a quick fertle at the PFA's today, I copped a right handful. Couldn't help it really. There they were, just under the surface and looking exactly as people had described.

So I gave them a good wash and a slow boil, skins on of course, and taste-tested them, cold and lightly salted,  on my mate Rog who fancies himself as a bit of a gourmet.  ;) They were delicious! He didn't even need to tell me. We scoffed the lot.  ;)

The plan is to try to keep enough for planting a whole row in the spring if I can. I hope so. These will make a fantastic addition to the dinner-table.

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"
