I bought some of this a few years ago; can't remember what for. I think it's mainly for downy mildew. I wondered if it might help prevent stem rot. Some of my courgettes are showing signs of it.

Nothing will prevent stem rot. the best way to prevent it is to plant the base of the plant stem higher than the soil level so it remains dry

Thanks Davy. My gardening books advise making a mound when planting courgettes but (like so much advice) never say why. At last I know the reason. I will take greater care in planting next year although I've never had this problem before. Thanks again.
