Difficult to say from photos if there is anything spesificly wrong with your acer..but I suspect there is not.
Acers do react very easily to drastically changing weather and most common reason for die back is late frost. Often bit of frost on those newly emerged tender leaves can cause the whole branches to die back.
Otherwise you acer looks perfectly healthy and providing dieback doesn't advance anymore..put it down to weather..we certainly have had some 'out of season' weather this year... ::)
I would just trim back some of those dead bits and leave it to it..there is not much else you can do about it.
I'm sure it will be fine.... ;)

Btw..is that acer newly planted? If it is faily 'new'..it could be its roots haven't had chance to settle down yet and they can get bit 'moody' untill they get going..or if you've damaged roots during planting it will take for while the damage to show up in loss of top growth.

Yeah strange weather this year again, that one was planted last year, possible april but not sure.
It grew quite a bit though.
