I was expecting to move weeks ago so I didn't bother with sowing tomato seeds this year. Now we wont be going till July (thanks to some very inefficient solicitors). My question is will my seedlings -2 true leaf stage- catch up or was this a fruitless task?

It depends on the variety and the season...
some take 50 days to fruit, some 85+... rule of thumb, smaller fruit eg cherries come ready first.  :-\

Thanks Saddad. They are Gardeners Delight so there is hope!

Weirdly the fastest tomato I know of after the truely tiny Gartenpearle is Black Krim.... a purple beefsteak with the most appalling growth manners you will ever find... but it is both early adn delicious so I forgive it the bi and trifurcating growth points, growing blind into leaves and trusses, throwing growth points off the end of leaves adn trusses and generally being a random mess in terms of a plant....

Sounds like my life at present, here, there and everywhere  ;D ;D. I will put it on next year's list though chriscross, I'm intruiged.
