About 16 babies, but a few were quite big, big enough to fit snugly in the palm of the hand! they were Belle de Fontenay earlies, planted last week of February.  We have had so much rain here, obviously they like it!
I have never had any so early, usually I would need to wait another 10 days. I dug up just two plants, so if there is no blight attacks, I should get a good crop this year!
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com
