OH's op has been cancelled for tomorrow. Many emergency admissions over the last 3 days.

At least we have got lots done thinking he was going in. We spent 6 lovely hours at the lotty today. Spare room sorted in case he needs our bed to himself. I was looking forward to a full day of housework to take my mind off things. Never mind, it can wait ;D.

My OH had an operation cancelled because "the people who had had it done last week hadn't recovered very well and were still in the hospital ward"!!! :-X

It is upsetting for you at the time, but your turn soon comes!

A little bit annoyed with consultants secretary, she left a message OH called back to say we were in & could she now return call. Nothing. I called after 6 & they put me through to the bed manager who confirmed what we thought. Had we not picked up the message we would have been £50 out can pocket as a taxi was booked & he would have needed one home. On the upside we can now go & have lunch with our eldest granddaughter who's 17 today & the test match starts on Thursday, yay ;D. Oh & I can have a pudding as it's Weight Watchers this morning :P.

Sorry GJ, like others have said, it is awful when people get bumped.  Been there, done that.  Was supposed to come in and get my gallbladder done, then developed an infection with high temperature and was too poorly.  When I was better and a new op was set, I got bumped by a car accident victim who needed 4 hours of life saving surgery.  Clearly her need was much greater than mine, but it would have been nice being told as soon as, rather getting premeds at 9 in the morning and being told at 3 in the afternoon that my op would have to be rescheduled.  In the end I got it a week later, all went well and I hope the accident victim survived, although I was told that she had to be transferred to a more specialised hospital.

It was really only the thought that somebody else's need was greater than mine, that helped me get through the being 'psyched up and then being let down' rollercoaster of emotions.

Hope you will get a new date soon and hope it is going to be scheduled first thing in the morning, so there is time and a theatre slot later in the day, if they need to prioritise somebody else.  And most of all, fingers crossed that eventually all will go very well.

Yep - it does happen all too frequently .......
