Wireworm control - nematodes?

Has anyone used nematodes for wireworm control? If so was it worth it?

I just converted from a lawn and have been given the heads up that wireworm can be a problem after doing that. I finished digging over about 10m2 more since that unpleasant piece of information was revealed to me. I turned over about half a dozen larvae within that area, that I noticed anyway. No potatoes will be going in to that plot but onion, swede, carrot, radish and beetroot will be.

A few more questions for you old hands:

Are the wireworm likely to be anything more than a small nuiscance at the levels I've found them at? I have no idea.

Will they bother the root crops mentioned above? I'm thinking yes, but not sure.

Basically what I am asking is do I need to worry and, if so, are nematodes a worthwhile treatment?

not sure on nematodes, but regular cultivation will reduce there numbers, takes a few years

also know of people that put in half potatoes as bait to catch them??.

my plot is better now after a few years, but still lose a few spuds and beetroot to them
