Caught my eye this morning:

Honestly, in my opinion any fruit that is so esthetically pleasing usually tastes cr*p!!!! Strawberries in March?? Mine are just peeking out now, with a few tiny green leaves on them. No strawberries for several weeks yet! And I bet they will taste better than Tesco ones! (Here it's mostly Spanish strawbs in the shops, they last about a day before going mouldy and are full of water. If you want real fruit French ones, you need to find a farm shop or go to the market and pay an arm and a leg).
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com

You need to add tons of sugar to get any taste out of supermarket ones, I'll stick to waiting. Still got 2 lbs on the freezer to add to smoothies  ;D

Our local Co op sell Eves delight & sweet Evie & I must say for supermarket strawberries they were exceptional. It's usually later in the year they have them though.

I so agree regarding Spanish strawberries being tasteless, I usually stick to the seasonable English ones, however, the last 2 weeks I have bought Moroccan (Morrison's) they really taste like strawberries and no sugar required.
