What a day!

Woke up this morning to the sound of heavy hailstones on the windows and 2 inches (5cms) of white on the ground. It did not last long enough to get dressed and find the camera.  But the WIND. Hardly manged to stagger outside today, one can barely manage to stand up in places.
Got a nice bunch of daffodils, all snapped off by the gale, fortunately with decent stems.
Only stayed out long enough to notice that Clematis armandii is in flower, just.
We are fortunate in being able to just turn round and come back in, what do you good folks do on your allotments?

Run into the shed which has a gas fire and stove (though we had to replace the one ring stove yesterday for £15 as it was not working properly - yellow flame and sooting the kettle). Although last year, the digging was started late (March I think), the shed was certainly more important to get done.

It was the same here, sleety rain across the garden horizontally!  I was soooo annyoed as yesterday it was lovely and I was stuck indoors music making, and then today when I had planned to spend a good few hours at the lottie hideous weather  :-\

Very windy and sleety rain here too.  Looks like winter has returned to Whitley Bay, though it took longer to get dark tonight.
No chance of any work at the allotment or garden, but at least did some seed planting indoors today. Looks set to last until the middle of the week here I think. :( busy_lizzie

What do we do at the allotment in weather like that? Hehehe, one look out the window and the bicycle stays in the shed at home. Well, we wouldn't want it to rust, do we?

Worst problem for me was lighting my barbeque to cook my sweetcorn. Too much wind and damp fuel, too ages to get any heat.
The wind was so cold I spent most of my time in the greenhouse, putting broad beans into pots to ensure good germination.
Could not get warm all day after that.

Bun

I spent this morning putting  the polycarbonate glazing back into my green house.  :-\  Stupid wind. I lost a tray of sprouts & a tray of tomatoes.  :(

Really cold and windy for me too yesterday but couldn't resist a trip to the plot to look for signs of spring (and yes!!! there it was - buds appearing on my newly planted fruit bushes). Then had a walk round the site with youngest daughter to warm us up and to have a nosey at how others have their plots laid out (no pesky foliage to block the view at this time of year!) Back home to pot up a few seedlings in the greenhouse (glass still intact - fingers crossed  :P)

I think we had 4 seasons in one day yesterday.

One minute rain/sleet/snow/hail (delete as appropriate  ;D), the next bright sunshine. Windy too.

Not bad enough to keep me in though. Spent a 'nice' couple of hours just breaking up an old concrete path and digging up an old hedge! (Part of the latest project he he!).

Palustris

What a contrast, today it has been a typical Winter's day. Cold. light wind and bright Sun. Spent almost all day out side. Pruned the Group 3 clematis, helped prune a huge Rose, New Dawn in the hidden garden and started clearing off the old growth from the Pulsatillas. Now there is the most glorious Sunset. A very pleasant way to spend a day (except for the hands covered in scratches from the rose, but you know what I think of roses).

Hi

After all the comments in the above posts I am glad I managed to get some seeds planted in the greenhouse yesterday.

If I hadn't I sure would have felt as guilty as hell  ;)
