Hi Guys has anyone tried to repair their 1000lt IBC?

The reason I ask is I have sprung a leak from the butterfly valve.  This is the valve that connects directly to the main tank with the open/close handle.

I have tried to unscrew this valve but I cannot get it off!!  It needs repairing as water is leaking out and disappearing under the shed...

Thanks

Paul

You have either got a build up of dirt and grit that is keeping the valve from fully closeing if you can isolate the valve you should be able to remove and clean or replace. It would be a better idea to install a inline valve before the tap this would enable you to do all the work without empting your water drum ;D

I have found that the main valves often begin to leak, probably because they are not made for frequent use indefinitely.
My solution is to cut a hole in the blanking cap, and "engineer" a bib-thingy tap into it, properly sealed. The cap is then screwed back onto the tank, using LOTS of sealant in the threads. to ensure it does not leak. A hose can then be attached to the tap if required.
Why plant rows of 24 lettuces??

Thing is I cannot even unscrew the whole valve.  I have tried but it won't budge...

Oh how I hate these stupid word censoring devices! A  "bib-thingy" tap for gods sake! Lets just say that it will have to be expressed as a "Bib - male chicken" tap.
Grrrrrrrr..........

Hahaha a Coc@ ....

I understand that but the leak is from a crack on the plastic just behind the butterfly valve and rear of the ON/OFF handle.  My problem is it won't rotate to unscrew....

How do you get the blinking things off!!!!!

Cheers

Hi Guys here are a few pics of my damaged valve.  I think it's moulded and won't come off.

As you can see in the first pic there is a huge crack.
