Replanting sickness

Does this affect currants? My neighbour on the lotties (Betty 94) has some very old and unproductive currants and wants me to dig them out for her... can I replant her new bushes in the same bed... or do I need to agree a new site for her?

I'm fairly sure they are virussed to hell and back... tiny fruit... so I'm going for fresh stock...  :-X

I haven't heard there being 'replanting sickness' chemicals being involved with blackcurrant roots.
More likely problem will be with the soil being 'robbed' from goodness with currants 'hungry' nature.
Often overhanging branches will take root on the base of the original shrub and the now new youngsters won't have any problems establishing themselves and making the 'mother' even bigger if not removed in time.
If it would be my plot and lack of room the issue...yes, I would use the same ground..BUT only after severe ground preparation with LOADS of 'good stuff' and generous amount of bonemeal when planting and spring dressing of BFB in spring...and...generous mulch too... ;) It would not hurt to keep the mulch topped up over the growing season..grass clippings would do that.
