i have celeriac still on my allotment in West Sussex, in fact I haven't touched it yet.  How long should I leave it in the ground?  Does it need digging up and storing or can it be left?

It doesn't like a really hard frost but can be left in the ground for a while yet. If you do dig it clamp it or it will dry out quickly...  :)

thanks for that.  i have a new allotment and it is on clay soil.  if we get a lot of rain is it likely to rot?

Depends...I left some of mine in last year (well, I forgot them to be honest!) and they survived until March, but they were buried by accident by my manure plie which might explain why they survived! ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

I left mine in last year even with all the weather adn it survived OK... there was a bit mroe to cut off the top by then end of the winter than at the start, but I was still getting three servings for me (adn I love the stuff) per plant....I'd say if you can protect it a bit it should be fine

Thanks everyone for the advice.  i shall do a belt and braces approach and store half at home and put a good covering of manure on the rest.
