Looked at The American vintage clothing web site the other evening and every time I come on here their advert is on the end of the threads.............Grrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thought Norton got rid of these tracking cookies?

Betula - Any site that uses Google Ads can drop a cookie on to your system that can be used to serve you targeted ads.  You would prety much have to turn off cookies completely to stop this happeneing.
You can see what Google thinks you like and therefore what sort of ads get thrown at you

http://www.google.com/ads/preferences

You can opt out of categories - just click on the remove button.
You can even opt out of targeted ads - When you opt out, Google disables cookie and no longer associates interest and demographic categories with your browser.  You still get ads just not ones targeted at you.

A bit more explanation here..  http://www.google.com/ads/preferences/html/about.html

I don't know much about Norton these days but it is supposed to remove these sort of cokies - better option is to opt out.
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

or use the firefox browser with the adblock plugin and you wont get any banners at all and it allows the page to load faster aswell.
I never get ads now but when i use the google browser or internet explored i get target ads all the time from sites i previously visited.
you may be a king or a little street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with de reaper.

I have four browser installed.

I use Firefox 3, with java turned off, and Adblock and NoScript plugins, as my main browser, and with the primary windows live account open. This stops most of the crap but somteimes defeats some sites i need to see, so to that end  i also have Internet Explorer installed with no degree of limitaion on, for looking at sites that need to run scripts or java, or arent written for firefox. Then i have a set of tabs in Google Chrome, which also allows me to have another secondary hotmail live account open, and all the tabs to do with my domain. Finally, for anything else, i have Safari on hand, because it doesnt pick up any of the other three's cookies.
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

I hate ads which move a lot.  I have very keen peripheral vision and it makes me feel giddy.

I looked at some holiday chalets and for months I was inundated with ads for holiday chalets.

Sometimes you can click on the ads and express a preference but this only stops ads from a single supplier.

Matalan recently had an advert where the camera did a pan rightwards, going round in three complete circles in 30 seconds, it made me feel ill watching it. Very very vomit inducing. I dont know what they were thinking of, one of the basic rules of directing films is you have to avoid rapid prolonged sideways movements of the camera. The Bourne trilogy films were panned for the rapid camera movement and cutting during the fight scenes that made them a blur of movement and unwatchable.
