Lavender cuttings

Hoping to take some cuttings from neigbours lavender. What is the best way of doing this and much could I take from one very thick bush. ( I have very good neighbours !)

as it's getting on in the year, it's probably a bit late to leave them to root outside unprotected
Notice the cuttings are quite small, and if they root, it's best to grow them on in pots, maybe even for a whole season.
Rooting may take up to 2 months........You can tell if they have rooted - you can see roots  :)

Thanks for the link... I've been meaning to take some cuttings for a week or two and this has reminded me.

In the past I've stuck some in the ground (earlier in the summer) as well as tried with hormone rooting compound - both took. As it's late in the year for cuttings I'll go with the pots in the corner of the greenhouse and hope.
