Our Ixworth chickens have arrived

It's taken two months in the execution, but "Project Chicken Keeping" has finally delivered results.  We picked up four Ixworths yesterday.

That clanking noise from the feeder is not going to be problem..another couple of days and they won't take no notice what so ever.. ;)
If I may give a little advise though..noticed on your photos your water drinker...your girls are going to bury it very soon with they scratchings..to keep the water clean you may want to hang it up.. ;)
If you keep the drinker on their back height..so they can just reach to drink that will make a big difference for you daily tasks. You'll be suprised how far and high chippings and soil fly when they really start 'kicking'.. ;D ;D

You're quite right!  I've just been down to the allotment, and sure enough, wood chippings in the water.  ::)

I raised the drinker by a further 21cm, so the lip is now 33cm above the floor (about 13 inches).

Thanks for the advice, Goodlife, it's made a big difference.

They look great! We have 7 chickens and they are great pets. The eggs are good too!  ;D
