Mayan Gold potato question

Is there more than one type of mayan gold.  I grew them last year and loved them but not so happy with the favour this year.

Last year they had a little forest of small stems each of which produced a small but very yellow fleshed spud with lovely favour.  So I had a large number of small spuds.   They also had lots of flowers.

This year they have a few stems quite large spuds, yellowish flesh with an ok but nothing special favour and very few flowers though they are the same purple colour.

It is very difficult to see them as the same variety.  The weather I hear you say, but the volunteers from last years batch are the same as before.

Are they both Mayan Gold or if not which one is correct.

I bought some Mayon gold potatoes from Booths thinking they would be a really nice one to eat & let some chit & grow. They weren't even yellow in colour & we thought the taste pretty ordinary. I was going to send some back to ask if they had been marked wrong but Mr Tidy threw them out. They were the Carroll's Heritage potatoes.

I only had 5 last year they were the last five from Garden Organic and very small, but the result was great, so this year I bought 20, and they are a huge disappointment.  Certainly would not call them Mayan Gold, more like slightly off white.  Certainly nothing in the flavour which would have me rushing out to plant any more next year.

I think next year I shall take a knife and cut one of the seed potatoes, if I waste 20p then least that is better than wasting £4.

According to this website they should be bright yellow and produce small to medium sized potatoes, so I think I have been sold a pup.  Grrrrrr

They don't sound right at all  :( the ones I grew a couple of years back were definitely a gorgeous yellow, with distinctive taste.
Can you get in touch with the supplier?

Thanks for the info, looks like a got sold a pup.  Not actually sure where I bought them I went to two potatoes days and I am not sure whcih ones I got at wihich.  The main problem is the disappointment of having put effort into growing somthing and getting a second rate result.    They are still edible but just not the special treat I was expecting.
