Sooooo nice to hear a happy story  :)
Baby birds falling out of nests sadly usually don't make it  :'( Martin had a lucky break! He did look quite big in the first picture so I guess it was almost the end of his time in the nest anyway! Wonderful photos!

How lovely that he survived.

A few years back we had a house martin's nest that disintegrated.  All the birds came tumbling to the ground and most survived.  I found a small bucket in the shed that had been used as a plant pot and filled it three quarters full with screwed up kitchen roll.   I recovered the lining to the nest, placed it on top and then tied the bucket to the bathroom window just a short distance from the original nest.  After replacing the baby birds in their new nest, I was relieved to see that their parents started to feed them again.  They all successfully fledged.  Here are some pics.

Yes it is lovely to be able to help out.  ;D sounds like A4A is full of fledgling savers!
Pauline I love the bucket idea, I'll save that idea for the future. It was lucky Martin was well advanced, and I'm not sure how long he would have lasted sitting on the patio.

I did find a crashed nest a couple of years ago, again House Martins. I found the little fledgelings almost dead with cold, no sign of parents. Following advice from a nearby rescue centre I took the little chicks to them, where they were looked after and then released. They said HM nests quite often come down when a period of rain follows a dry time.
