I'm looking for a good pair of loppers. I want a decent pair, suitable for extended periods of work, and preferably able to cope with 1.5" branches. I'd welcome recommendations and comments from those folk who've used this type of tool regularly. Many thanks.

Ratchet type, with extending handles are best. I inherited one in a shed so can't help with a brand but the ratchet makes a difference- as you cut slowly a bit at a time.

McCullock 16" chainsaw.

Cuts anything.
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

Yes ratchet type are good..they make hard work much easier..saves your arm muscles.. ;)
I use Fiskars loppers for work..I've got two different sizes and the larger ones do cut 1.5" easily.

They are not cheap but well worth of it..I've had mine for years and other than odd drop of oil..very little other maintenance is needed.

Ray got some from lidl, reach a long way up and you pull a rope to cut the branches off  :)
