Does anyone know where I can buy some sweet potato slips from?

Marshalls did offer them a year or so ago, not sure about this year but slips are not normally ready until March/April.

Will have to get myself a catalogue, their website doesn't seem to be working, or is it me? You're right, normally they're ready around April but often they advertise now for delivery then, if that makes sense.

The thompson and morgan potato catalogue has slips, variety Beauregard on page 11. £9.99 for ten. I still haven't made my mind up to order or not, we love sweet potato, but not easy to grow i believe. last order date is 15 may

The following site suggests producing your own shoots from a potato you have bought. Of course you won't know the variety, but it would work out a lot cheaper than buying the slips.

Who planted all these weeds?

£10 for some slips is expensive and I don't really think I've got any space left now. Was updating my planting plan yesterday and realised that I've probably bought far too many seeds! I think now perhaps it's something I'll have to try next year. The trouble with sprouting your own slips is that what you buy in the shops is probably not a hardy type for growing in the UK. They are difficult to grow and you're setting yourself up for failure if you don't get the right variety for our climate. If anyone does try growing them this year I'd be interested to know how it goes.
