Has anyone else tried these? I got them from Real Seeds - they are meant to be like green peppers when fried. The plants are about 8 foot triffids and they would like to be more - they have pushed over my hazel frame and taken over a large bed and the paths between! There are very few fruits yet although lots of  things look like they might become fruits. I brought it cos I liked the name but still hopeful that the fruits will come good.....!
Any other experience?

I grew some last year, but never got round to cooking and eating them. They certainly grow - I let them trail through the brambles on the lottie boundary at the edge of my plot.

I have the HSL unnamed Achocha... the description is the same!! The smaller darker bits are best as you cna eat them whole.. nibbling on the plot!

I got a lot of foliage but few fruits last year. I did plant end of June...so maybe too late? Have any of you tried growing this on hawthorn hedges?

Squash 64 aka Betty grew the last year and they covered her GH. I did have some seed from her but am wondering where to sow them
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Grew it a few years ago and had quite a lot of fruit, but it wasn't something I enjoyed and certainly I wouldn't ever bother to grow it again - but each to their own taste.

I love my traditional English Cuckoo Marans and their lovely big brown eggs

Thanks all...those of you who got fruit...do they really taste like green peppers?

Squash64

Last year I planted two next to my greenhouse and as Shirl says, they covered it.

There was more fruit than I could possibly eat so I gave loads away and everyone who ate them loved them.  They do have a mild sweet pepper taste but some people thought they tasted slightly of cucumber.

Even if the fruit is not to your taste they make a fantastic climbing plant and need no support or attention.

I've got seven plants ready to plant out in a couple of weeks.
