Picked the first one today

It looked fantastic, but didn't taste as good as I thought it would.  Maybe I should have left it another day but I was worried that the slugs would get it first.

I had my first strawberry just other day..Gariquette as well..
The fist one was fully coloured red..still bit on orange side..and it was rather bland tasting..
But yesterday I had another one..and that one I managed to leave untill it was really dark red..and it was  :P..lovely ;D
So looks like that variety need to be really, really ripe before the flavours and sugars develop.. ;)

Thanks for that.  There is another one nearly ready but I'll leave it and hope the slugs/birds/cats don't get to it first. :)
