apple pests

i have a red valentine apple tree the flowers were just beautiful, but i noticed they were sort of dying  when i looked closer i did notice there were signs of a little pest  the only thing i have at the moment is a bug spray for fruit and plants would it be ok to use this

Apple sawfly maybe?  My guess is that the damage has been done now, though I'm no apple expert.  Can you post a photo?
