1. I am fed up buying peppermills which last for a few weeks/ months and then stop working. I'm prepared to buy a more expensive model e.g. Peugeot or one with a ceramic disk but I would be happier forking out with some prior recommendations. Anyone got any advice?

2.I'm redesigning my garden and will be lifting bulbs as they die back to replant in August/ September. I'm thinking that brown paper bags for storing them might work? Has anyone got a better idea? Where would I source brown paper bags?

Thanks for any help with these two queries!

If you have a TK Max near you they have some good grinders.
What about mushroom bags in the supermarkets

I have had one for years which seems to be fine for on the table for guests but as I have unrefined taste buds I just buy mine ready ground. No discernible difference to me.

What exactly is the difference, may I ask?

To me it is just being 'fancy'.

Would be interested to see replies on the grinder, have same problem here.
Homebase used to do stout paper bags at the checkout, which I've used for storing dahlia tubers in dry compost, they worked ok. Cardboard fruit trays free from supermarkets have worked ok for this sort of thing for me too, but I've never done it with bulbs in the summer.

we gave up on pepper grinders years ago. We use an enormous cast iron pestle and mortar. It;s rather wonderful. I have a horrible feeling little Jamie Oliver had one, but he can't be wrong all the time, can he?  :)

best grinder i have found are the ikea ones, they have adjustable ceramic grinders so you can go from course to fine and mine a five years old and still work as good as the day i bought them, they are good for grinding dried herbs aswell.
you may be a king or a little street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with de reaper.

I had the same trouble with pepper mills, now I just buy the cheap supermarket ones already filled with corns, (in the dried herb section)  they seem to last as long as the pepper in them, then I buy another when it's empty, doesn't look good on the table but hey ho, at least it works!!!   ;)

We have had our Cole and Mason mills for about four years now and they are still fantastic
