I had a thought the other day when cracking a HUGE double yolked egg. Do double yolkers produce twins ;D ::)?

Don't know about that Janet, but I was told only first time layers produce double yolkers. No idea if this is fact, but I'm sure someone will help out soon. ;D

Thanks Maggie. It's just one of those wonderings that come into my head from time to time. They are my Speckeldy's & have been laying since we got them last September. This one was laid last week & weighed 87g. I was a bit concerned at what might come out of it when I cracked it. I gave it to OH & he assured me it was very tasty ::).

Just googled it. The answer is no.
If they are fertile 2 chicks develop but their isn't enough room for them both so the die :'(.

Aha, so my source was definately wrong then. Interesting point, not being enough room, I wonder if it is so for all egg laying creatures. I suppose it must be. Hmmm.
