I have just been picking ,blanching ,freezing a lovely big bunch of Purple Sprouting Broccoli...what I want to know is , are the leaves ok to eat ?   Seems a shame to waste them if they are .
Also ....are all brassica flower buds/sprouts edible  ?      Just wondering   ::)

Yes, all brassica flowering tips are edible, and I am getting them off sprouts, red cabbage, kale, everything I can lay my hands on as well as PSB. My plants are not pulled up until I have exhausted their resources! The only criterion for eating PSB leaves (and sprout plant leaves etc etc) is whether or not they are tough and/or bitter. Try them!

My former next-door-neighbour grew masses of PSB every year and they only ate the leaves. As soon as one plant started to produce flowers he'd pull the whole lot up!

When I told him that you actually ate the flowers, he looked at me as if I'd taken leave of my senses!!
