I harvested some giant Kohlrabi in the fall and stored them, surprisingly they stored very well. One started to sprout greenery , I watched it for a while then decided to put the bottom part which I had trimmed the roots off into water. This was about 3 weeks ago, I noticed today it has grown a couple of 1 inch long shoots so I am going to plant it.

What are the chances do you think?

I don't know the type, the seeds were given to me by an oriental gardenere who saves all her own seed so she has no name for it herself.

The greenery on the top is in lovely shape and there is aloty of it, about 10 ins high now and quite bushy.

What are the chances?  Jeannine,  do you mean for seed saving?  Not good.  Kohlrabi is a brassica.  All brassica are outbreeders.  You need a minimum number of plants, at least 12.  They cross with cabbages, kales etc.

Enjoy eating the root and the nice young leaves as well.
