I begged the council NOT to give me a green wheelie bin, explaining I composted everything myself.

As they ignored me, I took it off to allotment, and as it's waterproof, I keep things in it, like netting. I now see this is a waste of its potential - out will come the netting and off to the shed to catch rainwater off the roof.

I have been using my green bin for water.  Great for wheeling about the place.  Unfortunately now need it as green bin, do need to throw out perennial weeds other things I don't like to put in the compost.  I also must find out if they have any broken ones very useful.

If you want to keep it clean you can always put perenial weeds into water to make fertilizer tea just like comfrey or nettles. Or put them in black bin liner till they are compost-takes a couple of years. Shame to get that wheelie dirty ;D ;D ;D
