I recently built a raised planter for my sisters patio garden.
It was built quite high as the dogs thingy their legs on everything.  (funny how the website has replaced the word 'thingy' by 'thingy'  ;D ;D)

If anyone is planning something similar I would be happy to forward the instructions I put together to make it.

Photo's can be found at the following link:

Yes..lovely job!..and like you said yourself..they are going to take some filling..
Maybe getting bulk bags of screened top soil would be cheapest option..and mixing some multipurpose on top few inches to make it bit 'richer' medium.
Turf suppliers are normally good with decent top soil.

WOW looks amazing !!

I am in East Anglia we have a place here which takes our green household waste and turns it into "soil improver" which is great for growing stuff in.

Might be worth making a few calls and find out where yours goes and seeing if you can organize a few trips to fill up your car :)

Our site also will deliver a skip full for about £30 which is what i plan to do when i get my beds built up end of march next year so the soil will be warm to plant into :)

Keep up the good work :)
