There have been a couple of articles recently on BBC Countryfile about the impact this scheme will have on the countryside it is intended to go through. I was quite shocked to see just where the line is planned to go, though some some of the most pictureque parts of the Chilterns. Villages, rivers and people's lives are feared to be blighted if not ruined if the line goes ahead.

Now i am not against progress, i think the railways need modernising. High speed rail lines are in effect the rail equivalent of motorways and its high time we had them. I just feel the proposed route for this one is wrong on so many levels. I cant see why it cant be routed closer to the M1 and follow say the M1 M45 A45 route to Birmingham a route which is fairly direct and 'high speed'.
