I am looking for a forum, similar to this one, where you can ask questions to like minded people.

I have always has probs with my hearing, lots of ops, last one 11 years ago.  I know I lip-read to a certain extent.  Since moving to Brittany 4 1/2 years ago I know I struggle with the language but have never put it down to my hearing.

Last night I was talking to one of my French friends, who is deaf and has just had a new hearing-aid, she put it into my deaf ear and it was so clear it shocked me.

With my history I would like to know where to go.

I know where to get the hearing aid from, I have questions about my deafness - hence the request for people with similar problems.

Cocopops I know that Hearing Concern is a UK charity but it might be worth contacting them to see if they can help at all -

Hello Cocopops.

I am deaf and have been from birth through Usher syndrome. Is there any way i can help you.

My OH suffers tinnitus & sudden deafness left ear. Unfortunately the problem was diagnosed at a microscopic level so digital hearing aids were pointless. He kept researching BAHAs bone anchored hearing aids & a couple of years ago they became available on the NHS. These aids are good for single sided deafness. OH went into hospital & had a titanium screw fitted to his skull & the devise clips on like a press stud action. At least now when I say he has a screw loose I am making a valid point.
