Asparagus trial - 5-6 month harvest period

Two-three months ago I read an article that a variety of asparagus produced good results during trials for harvesting asparagus for 5 - 6 months of the year  instead of the current 6 weeks.  It was hoped that it would shortly come on the market for the gardener. 

Does anybody know of a link to this story or if the variety has been released.   I was going to buy asparagus crowns but  have held off for this new variety.  I know i know,  it may still be worth getting 1/2 a dozen crowns for now.
