I love the names and the 'babycrow', you are a mad lot!   :)

I took a few photos of how I make them, it's easier than trying to describe it.
Here goes -

For a baby scarecrow face  I use the leg of a pair of tights, folded back on itself and knotted at the top.

[attachment=1]

For stuffing I use polyester filling, clean pillows or cushions are good.
Stuff it to the required size

[attachment=2]

Make a small ball of stuffing for the nose

[attachment=3]

Put it inside and pull it outwards so you can wind some cord around the outside

[attachment=4]
[attachment=5]

push all the stuffing up the face, gather the end and fasten it with strong cord. (this is for a doll-type scarecrow, if I was making an outdoor one I would put some sort of stick inside the head at this point)

[attachment=6]

For the eyes, push a needle threaded with strong cord from the back of the head to where you want the eyes to be.  Push it back to where it came in and knot it.

[attachment=7]

Do the same for the mouth.  I pushed the needle in from below and to either side of the chin

[attachment=8]

Pull both ends of the thread to pull the mouth inwards and knot it.

I find the easiest way to secure the head to the body is by either using something with an attached hood, or by making a hat and sewing it onto the neck of the garment.  Then once the face is inside, I sew through the hat and head around the face.

I hope this all makes sense!

When I get old I don't want people thinking
                      "What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
                    "Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I might have a go at making one but what do you use for hair please and how do you fix it on?

If the bad weather comes back maybe we should have a baby scarecrow competition to keep us all out of mischief.

Boys versus girls, bet Ace and Kev could make some dandy looking babies  ;D ;D ;D

For this one I just used a few loops of yellow wool and stiched it to the inside of the bonnet.  The bonnet is stiched to the head.

Thanks Betty.   :D

I will definitely have a go when I get some spare time; probably after Christmas.  I have some polyester filling from some pillows and I have been wondering what to do with it.

Grandma

The babe is a bonny little girl and granddad looks so happy and proud!

Aren't you clever? I struggle to sew a button on! xxx
