I've just looked and this payment has been 'triggered' in my area (and my dad's in Portsmouth).

It's a payment made in exceptionally cold weather for people on certain benefits.

If you want to check, Google 'cold weather payment 2010' and enter your postcode. x

There are a lot of people who should get this who don't, mainly people who are entitled to Pension Credit but haven't claimed it. Even if you only get a few pounds PC you are still entitled to the cold weather payment, so it's worth it.

I thought this was an automatic payment if you are on the qualifying benefits???

Yes, IF you are on the qualfying benefits. But AgeUK reckon up to 1.6 million people who are eligible for Pension Credit are not claiming it, so they are missing out on the cold weather payment as well.

(This is not the same as the winter fuel payment).

I only get a couple of bob pension credit and I have had two £25.00 payouts.

That will go a long way won't it. Do you remember just putting a shilling in the meter for lecky, last all day. I seem also to remember one meter we had took pennies. They reckon £5 a day now to keep warm. I know we joke about the winter ginheating allowance but people are still dying of the cold. Wouldn't it be better to be paid to your supplier direct.
