Kale re-sprouting

On Christmas eve I cut a couple of heads of 'nero' kale.  Will the stumps reshoot giving me some new baby leaves or shall I just oik them out?

(And amazingly, there are still catterpillas on them!)

Yes, definitely worth a try; I've certainly had fresh, tender (and pest-free :-)) new growth of green kales after cutting off a head.

It is one of the crops that go under that lovely title of 'cut and come again'. I always take the old leaves off and dump them so that there is always a crop of nice tender shoots to harvest. Try it in your bubble and squeak, nothing better!

I have been pillaging the kale since the autumn, just taking enough leaves for my needs, including a few baby ones for salads, but come christmas eve, with both children stomping around in their wellies, flattening all of the tender young garlic shoots, and me not knowing how many mouths I was going to feed, I just cut the kales clean off their stalks.  Love bubbles and squeak, but in my opinion.....can't beat sprouts in it!  :D
