I save up all my change every year and put the proceeds towards my lottie rent. The time has come and I have emptied the jar. Remembered that the bank does not take over a certain amount of small change. Why they don't is another story, but what do you all do with yours? Count it and take it to a local shop? Take it to one of those machines at the supermarket where they charge you to cash it?

Just curious?!!

:(

They dont take it because cash costs a lot to transport and handle. I take mine to the bank in batches up to the limit they accept.

Once I've emptied and bagged mine up I take it to the bank a few at a time through the week/month instead of all at once.  I realise that lots of people don't have the time or means to do that though.  A couple of times we've used the money sorter/counter in our local Asda but gave up on that because we didn't want to hand over 7p from every pound in interest :o

Our morrisons have a machine where you put the money down a shute(no its not a car),it sorts it and prints a reciept to take to customer services.

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

How much commission do you have to pay on these machines?

I read an article recently cant remember where.... apparently under British law - retailers do not have to accept more than 20p worth of 1p coins in any one transaction.
