hi can anyone help.
If i cultivate over the winter eg kale in the early pots bed leeks in main crop do i take it i have had pots in or brassicas and leeks? Totally confused

I think about them as all this year's crops, so where you followed potatoes with leeks I wouldn't be planting potatoes or any of the onion tribe until 2013.

Could you kindly retype you post in more clear and concise manner to make it more easily understandable. Perhaps using punctuation and capitalizing the the first letter in each sentence.

I think the following is what you to intend first part  you post to mean but I might be incorrect.

1. I plan on planting  kale over the winter in the bed, I will be planting my early potatoes
2. I also plan on planting leeks over the winter in the bed , I intend on planting my main crop potatoes.

the last part of  message below makes no sense please revise it, so we can understand what you mean.

I think I know roughly what you mean. I've been pondering the same thing, how to rotate, but without leaving plots idle. Fitting everything in.

I think everything you put in 'counts' in terms of avoiding pests (as I think Unwashed was saying) - so that bed has gone 'potatoes - alliums - brassicas' and then next you put in whatever goes after brassicas (eg beans or whatever) and go through the full cycle, before going back to potatoes.

Choosing the crop rotation system which works for your particular crops and garden is not easy, is it?

Not quite sure what you mean but have a look at this site (dig for victory) and have a look at the PDF of pages 2&3 of the crop rotation.

It is basic but it is always better to start that way and build up.

I find crop rotation quite confusing at times. I always have a lot more potatoes than anything else. They take up two beds so I have to use two beds for each type of veg. I don't really have the need for more than one bed of the other sorts. Also when I have filled two beds with the potatoes, I have no where to put my other root veg. Fortunately I have eight similar sizes beds, but I am wanting to put a polytunel up which will reduce my beds.
It's not easy, this allotmenting!!!!!!

which is another dynamic entirely.
