Well you are wrong ;D

I bought something of eaby years ago like that , I ended up putting it in the shed and outside on nice days, it eventually stopped smelling.

I probably would shampoo it.

Good luck

As you guessed I do have an old book on husehold tips, I will look in here, it is great if you want to know how to stop your garters from sliding down!!!
When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.

Sounds mad, but vacuum the chair with the upholstery attachment.

Like nicotine film sticks to the wooden bits, its in the fabric.  Hoovering it really well will get rid of the residue that is left on the fabric.

Then sprinkle all the fabric with dry bicarbonate of soda and leave over night if possible.

Following morning, hoover the chair fabric again.

Then febreeze!!

Should get rid of the smell.
;D ;D

Would bicarb help. I think they recommend it for smelly trainers ::) I think it absorbs the odour.

Rosebud, as one who enjoys to the full all the comforts of a reclining chair whenever an upright posture is not required my advice is:

Put on your old clothes, plug your nostrils, get on the chair, press the Recline button and

                                         R E E E L A A A X X X

You can always open the windows tomorrow

Try to get hold of a steam cleaner - even a little hand held might do. Steam does help to neutralise odours. I would do it outside though because when the steam hits the chair you will get a strong smell of cigarettes to begin with!! :-X
dont be fooled by the name I am a Lady!! :-*

If you steam clean could you add essential oils?

Still hoover the residue off first....wetting the fabric may result in yellow stains from nicotine :))

How is it going Rosebud?  Have you got rid of the smell yet and which remedy worked the best?

rosebud

 Very good Pauline,
I put me rubber gloves on & used a whole tub of bicarb :o rubbed it well in then i hoovered the following day Hey presto!!!! 98% of the smell has gone BUT i am going to do it again the weekend, we have a new Dyson it almost lifts the material off the chair  ;D ;D ;D so i think the smell will be gone.
Thank you all.   Nice to walk into the room & i cannot smell ciggie smoke.

When I broke my ankle and couldn't use my normal chairs a kind soul gave me a recliner and it stank to high heaven of cigarette smoke. We tried steam cleaning, febreze and the smell seemed to disappear only to come back again.

it has been in the garage now since May, and you can still smell the smoke when you go in.  :-X
Hope you have better luck
