I am growing several varieties of potato this year but have been really pleased with the Maris Peer so far.  The plants are the strongest of the lot and they are covered with beautiful purple flowers - worth growing for the colour they give.  I haven't dug any up yet as I will wait until the foliage dies down.  Fingers are crossed that the potatoes are as prolific as the flowers.

Dug up a root this evening and they were good - nice and waxy, so will be growing them again next year!
So far next years first earlies will be Swift, Arran Pilot and Maris Peer.
Accord and Rocket haven't made the list -Accord were a bit too floury and Rocket were OK, but the others had more flavour and produced a better crop.

strange, i grew both peer and rocket in the same cold-frame for Corny's spud challenge. the rocket gave a better yield,  in size, number and flavour! ;)
You couldn't make it up!
