rhubarb questions...

i dont know the variety and some are starting to flop a bit but whens the last time 2 pick it and the best time to move the crowns? im guessing when dormant but??? you see i planted it in with lots of other fruit all have grown wonderfully ~(1st yr for redcurrants!!!)~ but its all a bit overcrowded and jumbled up... much the same as everything i do tbh lol but id like 2 take better care of my fruit xx many thanx 4 any replies xx  ;D
i think i like it here :D now who can tell me how to grow my own chocolate???

Hiya, loopy, I know how you feel  ;D
our rhubarb is left after the end of june to gather it's strength..we will be splitting it in september, just dig it up, split with a spade and re-plant where you want it, Eric (our gardening guru), tells us to leave it on the surface until spring to let the frost get to it  ;D
oh, and we stick a bucket of well rotted manure over the top over winter

 :-* thankyou!!! ill pick a bit more to use in a recipie i found and then let it be till september, when sad 2 say ill be taking chunks out of the fruit bed, i never knew it could get so big!! (yes city girl, lol, determined my 3 will grow up much wiser, tho mum always grew toms beans and sunflowers with us) many thanx again! and how olds youre littlest? ive got 3, 6yrs 4yrs and 9m.... must be mad!!!  :P youngest makes a beeline for the outdoors now shes crawling, and lurves the lotty  :D
