I have seedlings from it. Will they come true?

They sure do....but you will need some room too....once they start growing... ::)

I have until recently had two copper leaved norway maples (one has died) and they produce huge numbers of seedlings and only an odd one every few years produces one that is as dark as the parents.  There may have been four in 25 years.

anything with variation or special colour will not produce off spring from seed with same qualities as parent reliably...it is same with other plant croups not just with trees...
If they are 'just' a Norway maples..then most of them will come out as such maples do not gross pollinate naturally...but there is always a chance that one or two out of 100 (a guess) will come out something special...it will still be Norway maple but then special one may have a different colour leaves..or patern to the colour or size of the leaf different..or everything may look same as parent..but the tree works out growing smaller/larger than parent..but that is nature..

I should have asked really...Tim..what sort of Norway Maple...?
Ornamental..or just normal one.. ;)

tim

Normal. Bought at great cost to replace 100 y/o Bramley that came down in the night, blocking our back door! Just HAD to have instant shade.

goodlife

oh...well then...you should not have no problem with the seed then...normal you should get... ;)

Digeroo

No problem with the seed?  Except you will constantly be trying to get rid of them.

Yes!!

This was a month ago - before the 'May Drop' - & there are still thousands left to mature

::) ouch...didn't mean that way....yes they do seed a bit.. ;) But looking at Tim's pics he does have a room for a tree or two...
I love Norway maples...where I grew up there were lot of them..and every autumn we used to rake the leaves into huge piles and jump into them...
and  with fresh seeds we did the 'witches noses'..split the seed end into half like a peg and stick it  on to your nose..the wing bit being the nose... ;D ;D ;D..after a day outside I was always sent straight into bathroom for a clean..nose was black with a 'glue' from the seeds and bit of soil or sand stuck on top of that... ;D...oh...that was fun..but it is few years ago now... ::)
