Raspberry spacing

We've got a space running along the side of our decking about 2ft wide and 10ft long were thinking of putting in some raspberry canes. First of all - would this be wide enough? Second - how much space should we leave between canes ?

If it's not a suitable space suggestions are more than welcome as to what would go...

You could fit around 10 canes into that space.  Not sure if now is the best time for planting new canes, early spring is ideal I think, but they should take and produce fruit for next season.
