Could anyone help identifying this flower please?

It is for an old couple who have never known what it is, but keeps coming up year after year. It climbs a trellis in their garden and they love it.

it looks like some kind of clematis....

Sorry not the lovely flowers on the right but the green lump to the left.
Little yellow flowers with more stems coming out the back of them.

it's a bupleurum

the native one is our only shrubby member of the parsley family... the chinese use the roots of one for erectile dysfunction I think  ;)

Do the flowers get any bigger than that?

Bugloss2009

that was just a random picture of a bupleurum. There are lots of different species. They seem to be a bit trendy at the mo, at least the Daily T thinks so

your one might be one of the ones mentioned

I shall have to get back to you all with this as I am doing a lot of hours at the moment.
I hope to see them over the next few days.

Gwynnethmary,
The flowers do not get any bigger and they seem not to be flowers more like pollen sacks.
Bugloss2009,
I don't think its a form of Bupleurum as they have these in the garden too.

We are still at a loss as to what this is and have found it is a climber which is not invasive and does not grow more than the size of the trellis in height and spread. Which is 6' high and 3' wide.
