brown tsuff in my lottii

haveing been in my lotti for two days slashing and burning  brambles ti noticed this brown stuff at the bottom of it all its at ground level its all crumbly and if u stick a spade into it  it breaks up do u think ive possibly found some soil ?
ill keep u posted on any more  discoveries mal
ps scrounged a nice clump of rhubarb:) happy days

I just finished double digging bed no2  got a few more to go before the allotment has been set out completely . Still have to clear 1/4 of it but I wanted at least a few beds dug before a real frezze started.
