Last year I bought a roll of this fleece for the raised beds. After the season was over, I had all these lengths of fleece covered in mud and looking worse for wear so I binned them.
My question is, can you wash these pieces of fleece? That way you can use them again and again instead of throwing them away. Also do they rot down if thrown away? I am not sure if they do!!! And finally what are they made of? as I have bought this roll with no cover on it to tell me what the stuff is made of. ??? ???
Like most of you I want to do the right thing as far as waste and refuse goes. :)
Hope this and other things we buy can be reused washed out and used again. ;D

It's normally made from 100% UV stabilised spun polypropylene so no it's not biodegradable nor is it easily recyclable. Yes it is washable it can go in the washing machine on a low temperature setting.

I just happened to have a new pack with me at church on Thursday afternoon when we were searching, unsuccessfully, for the old  length of narrow white material to drape over the cross for our Easter display.  It works perfectly!

Still works as insulation when it's soiled - so save it 'till Winter for putting around plants - especially ones that drop their leaves and don't care how much light gets through.
With a microholding you always get too much or bugger-all. (I'm fed up calling it an allotment garden - it just encourages the tidy-police).

The simple/complex split is more & more important: Simple fertilisers Poor, complex ones Good. Simple (old) poisons predictable, others (new) the opposite.

So if I wash it like the net curtains then it should be OK!
I wont tell the OH about the cross as she will want to use it on that.
Secondary use for the overwintering of plants is a good one. I have a few that need this protection.

I would rinse off as much mud/soil as possible by hand and put it in an old pillow case or washing net.

NO, I would do what I used to in the Navy. I would put them straight in and watch the OH turn a loverly shade of ANGRY ;D ;D ;D
Thanks for the tip about the pillow cases though.
