I have just looked at a random picture on here and noticed all the brassica collars, I didn't use any last year just scaffold netting.

Do you use any, if so what size and are they bought or home made?

We use the Arthur Bowers' collars in the Amazon link below. You can buy them at most garden centres and they are quite cheap.

Some plot holders use small squares of old carpet instead.

Last year I made my own and they are still very much useable.  Rug underlay from Ikea £2.99 - see link - cut into 3inch squares with a slit on one side to the middle.  This size made about 50.  Excellent value for money in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies.
I have dug up loads of thin rubber matting. I think I will give these a try in 3" squares.

Do you make an x in the middle to allow growth or just slit them to the middle?
